Vision
Our ambition for St Clement's College is that it becomes a confident, successful learning organisation that meets the needs of its students, staff and the community it serves. At the heart of this are quality, standards and achievement. These three terms can and will be applied to every aspect of the life of our school.
Our programme of school improvement will focus on creating a climate of positive attitudes to learning where teachers can teach and everyone can learn. All of our students will benefit from individual plans that support and provide a sense of direction for theirlearning.

Our aims are

  • to raise standards of achievement and attainment
  • to shape the curriculum to meet our students needs
  • to develop specialist accommodation for the delivery of a wider range of courses
  • to promote a climate of supportive self review
  • to work with partners to become a centre of excellence in vocational education
  • to secure the confidence and trust of all our stakeholders.

Students will become responsible, self-confident and constructive young people who are In a position to make informed choices about their futures and to make a valuable
contribution to their community.

Vocational Centre

St.Clement's Vocational Centre Opened

In September 2004, St.Clement's College came into being with the hope and expectation of giving the students of Skegness a real chance at succeeding in relevant education. With this re-start process, the promise of a vocationally biased building to support the new curriculum areas was given to the college. £1 million soon turned into £1.4 million in order to achieve the required standards to succeed.

After a process of analysis and research intothe use and viability of this type of building, a team of St.Clement's College, Cfbt and HBS staff debeloped the proposal which was successfully interpreted by Langwith Builders.

Following this, a 6 month construction period ensued where no stone was left unturned to create what we have today. The building is fully equipped to cater for a wide range of practical subjects including, a fully fitted Automotive Engineering facility, Brickwork area, Painting and Decorating studio, Childcare rooms, an Electronics Lab and a 28 person ICT Suite plus other subjects including Sport.

Attendance

Expectations:

  • St.Clement’s College (in line with government directives) expects students to attend college for 95% of the time. This equates to a half a day’s absence every two weeks. If a student is absent for a whole day their attendance for that week drops to 80%.
  • Where possible, family holidays should not be taken during term time. The college is not obliged to authorise any absences due to family holidays but at the Principals discretion can authorise up to ten days in any one academic year. Ten college days absence taken as holiday in a year will reduce a student’s attendance to 95% immediately. Any further absence due to illness will bring their attendance down below the college target.
  • Parents have a responsibility for ensuring their child attends the college regularly and punctually. The college expects that all parents communicate with them, either in writing or by telephone, giving a reason;
    1. In advance of any planned absence.
    2. Immediately following any unplanned absence.
    3. During any absence expected to last more than three days.

Failure to comply with this requirement will mean that your child will have unauthorised absences on their attendance record and could lead to a referral to the Education Welfare Service.

  • Students should inform a member of staff of any problem or reason that may prevent them from attending college.
  • Parents should contact the college in confidence whenever a problem occurs that affects their child’s attendance at college.

Absences:

  • Please see the enclosed chart on acceptable / unacceptable reasons for absences from college.

Lateness:

  • Regular attendance at the college means arriving on time for the start of the college day. It is the parent / carers responsibilities to ensure that their child gets to college on time.
  • Parents/carers of students who are regularly late will be informed by the letter that this is not acceptable and in extreme cases, where no improvement has been made, the Education Welfare Service will be informed.
